- Preparation:
- Clear the area around your bed and remove all bedding, including sheets, pillowcases, and blankets.
- Launder all bedding in hot water (at least 60°C or 140°F) and dry on high heat to kill any bedbugs and their eggs.
- Vacuum the entire room, focusing on seams, crevices, and cracks where bedbugs may hide. Dispose of the vacuum bag or clean the vacuum thoroughly afterward.
- Inspect:
- Carefully inspect your mattress, box spring, bed frame, headboard, and any nearby furniture for signs of bedbugs, such as live bugs, shed skins, or fecal stains.
- Use a flashlight and magnifying glass if necessary to thoroughly examine all surfaces.
- Apply Temprid FX:
- Follow the instructions on the Temprid FX label for mixing the concentrate with water in a pump sprayer.
- Spray Temprid FX along baseboards, cracks, and crevices where bedbugs may hide, including behind furniture and electrical outlets.
- Apply a light, even spray to mattress seams, box spring seams, bed frame joints, and any other areas where bedbugs have been detected.
- Allow the treated surfaces to dry completely before reassembling the bed with clean bedding.
- Install Mattress Protectors:
- Once the treated surfaces are dry, encase your mattress and box spring in bedbug-proof mattress protectors (not included).
- Make sure the protectors are securely zipped shut to prevent bedbugs from entering or escaping.
- Set Up Bedbug Interceptors:
- Place bedbug interceptors under the legs of your bed frame to trap any bedbugs attempting to climb onto or escape from the bed.
- Make sure the interceptors are placed correctly and are flush against the floor to maximize effectiveness.
- Monitor and Repeat:
- Check the bedbug interceptors regularly for trapped bugs, fecal stains, or shed skins, which may indicate ongoing bedbug activity.
- If bedbugs are still present after treatment, repeat steps 3-5 as necessary, following all label instructions for Temprid FX and replacing mattress protectors and interceptors if needed.
- Prevent Reinfestation:
- Keep your bedding, mattress, and surrounding area clean and clutter-free to minimize hiding spots for bedbugs.
- Inspect second-hand furniture and clothing carefully before bringing them into your home to avoid introducing bedbugs.
- Consider using a residual insecticide like Temprid FX on a regular basis as a preventive measure, especially if you live in an area prone to bedbug infestations.
- Purchase our general purpose bug repellent.
